About Home Is... WORKSHOPS

HI - HOME IS... Workshops

A series of in-person workshops located in the city center of Amsterdam. Set in locations guaranteed to inspire. Please revisit this page to learn more about specific workshops, dates and locations.


WORKSHOPS:

WRITING

Interested in writing poetry, short stories, novels, screenplays, essays, etc? Each workshop will provided time to write, share your work, and receive feedback.


FILM

Interested in making a short film? Or perhaps you're interested in the history of film. Workshops will provide craft lessons, as well as the opportunity to begin making your own short film.


LOCATIONS:

Workshops will be held at a variety of locations throughout the center of Amsterdam. 



Workshop Instructor:

TRACY M. KING-SANCHEZ

Tracy's writing has appeared in The Southampton Review, Midnight Breakfast, The Normal School, and other literary magazines. Her short story, That Sigourney Weaver Thang - from which the main character of her novel first appeared - was a Notable Mention in 2016’s The Best American Short Stories. Tracy holds an MFA from Stony Brook Southampton. In addition to writing, she directed, wrote, produced and edited a short film, Artistic Closure, which played at film festivals. She has served as a juror for the Stony Brook Film Festival. Tracy is currently working on a novel, a collection of short stories set in both Brooklyn and Paris, and a memoir of letters, examining her childhood as a foster child and how it has led her to find yet another home in Amsterdam.

Finding Your Creative Style: Your Voice

Through a series of writing exercises and craft discussions you will focus on fine-tuning the way in which you stamp your personal mark on your creativity and storytelling. You will have the opportunity to work on screenwriting, play-writing and short stories. We will read and screen a variety of sample excerpts.

Finding Your Voice

Everyone has their own distinctive voice - some more than others. This craft-focused workshop aims to help writers identify their voice through a series of listening and writing exercises.
